About Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, responsible for one in three of all male cancers. It is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in North America. There are generally no signs or symptoms during the early stages of the disease, and these appear depending on where the cancer is located in the prostate and whether it has spread.

Localized cancer is defined as cancer that is confined to the site of the primary (original) tumor, and has not spread to any surrounding tissue or organs.

Recurrent prostate cancer is cancer that returns after a patient has already received therapy. It is usually detected by a rise in PSA and confirmed by a biopsy.
