About Clinical Trials

The purpose of this clinical research study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a study device, Sonablate® 500, which uses High Intensity Focused Ultrasound, HIFU, for the treatment of subjects who have locally recurrent prostate cancer. The high intensity focused ultrasound (sound wave energy) acts to destroy diseased tissue in the prostate. This treatment is radiation-free and has potentially fewer side effects than other cancer treatments including hormone therapy.

The procedure is minimally invasive and is performed in an outpatient setting.

You will be seen in the study clinic a total of up to 10 times over 1 year, to ensure the procedure has been successful.
